US: Apparel and textile imports down in November
Imports of apparel and textile products fell 7.1% in November last year, according to the US Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel.
Imports of cotton, wool, man-made fibre, silk blends and non-cotton vegetable fibre textile and apparel products totalled 4,245.3m square metre equivalents (MSME), the Textiles and Apparel Import Report said.
Imports of textiles fell 1% year-on-year to 2,466.2 MSME, while apparel imports slumped 14.5% to 1,779.0 MSME.
For the year to date, imports of textiles and apparel were down 2.7% on the same period in 2010 to 49,906.9 MSME.
For textiles and apparel individually, the respective figures were 27,618.8 MSME, down 2.7%, and 22,288.0 MSME, down 2.8%, the report added.
